Fujitsu, NTT DoCoMo Team Up on Developing Mobile Phones for Asian Markets
January 17, 2009
In light of lackluster mobile phone demand in Japan's domestic market, Fujitsu and NTT DoCoMo of Japan have teamed up on developing mobile phones targeting the Asian markets outside of Japan, according to a January 13 Nikkei report. As the first outcome from said partnership, the two companies have customized Fujitsu's FOMA F905i model, which debuted in Japan in 2007, for the Taiwanese market, according to a press release by Fujitsu. The localized model, which enables the viewing and inputting of Traditional Chinese characters, will be sold under the model name of F905i by Taiwan's Far EasTone Communications. In addition to the Taiwanese market, Fujitsu is reportedly eyeing the Korean and Chinese markets, too.
